Fire crews quickly douse blaze in Corona

Corona firefighters put out a one-acre brush fire today that threatened homes but did not cause any injuries, a Corona Fire Department spokeswoman said.

The brush fire near the intersection of Greenview Avenue and Silverwood was reported at 3:24 p.m., said Lynn Mata, an Emergency Services coordinator for the Corona Fire Department.

“The fire was knocked down at 4 p.m. using five engines from the Corona Fire Department and two engines from CalFire,” Mata said.

“The fire temporarily threatened nearby homes but none were damaged,” Mata said. “No injuries were reported.”

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, she said.
