The incident occurred at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 in the 22200 block of Whirlaway in Canyon Lake.

It was later determined that the suspect observed the investigators arrive and fled the scene by swimming across the lake,” a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report said.

Ryan Harper, 29, was arrested and booked at the Southwest Detention Center for residential burglary, possession of stolen property and violation of probation after officers’ investigation led them to the suspect at a pawn shop in Lake Elsinore.

All the property taken in the burglary was recovered, officials said.
