A Canyon Lake man is in custody for allegedly burglarizing a home, it was reported.
The incident occurred at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6 in the 22200 block of Whirlaway in Canyon Lake.
“Canyon Lake Police Department and investigators from the Perris Sheriff Station were nearby and responded to a burglary in progress. It was later determined that the suspect observed the investigators arrive and fled the scene by swimming across the lake,” a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report said.
Ryan Harper, 29, was arrested and booked at the Southwest Detention Center for residential burglary, possession of stolen property and violation of probation after officers’ investigation led them to the suspect at a pawn shop in Lake Elsinore.
All the property taken in the burglary was recovered, officials said.
Anyone who has information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Omar Rodriguez from the Perris Sheriff Station at 951-210-1000.
