A Cathedral City man accused of causing a hit-and-run crash while driving under the influence of alcohol was released from jail today on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 22, jail records show.
Gustavo Montes, 43, was arrested about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday on eastbound Interstate 10 near Bob Hope Drive, about a half-hour after allegedly fleeing the scene of the non-injury crash near Ramon Road and Da Vall Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Montes was eastbound on Ramon when the Ford F-150 truck he was driving allegedly rear-ended a Honda Pilot. He allegedly sped off and was stopped by Cathedral City police on I-10 near Bob Hope, according to a sheriff’s statement, which says “it is believed that alcohol consumption was a factor in this collision.”
Montes was released today from the county jail in Indio, but no bail amount was listed. He’s expected to be arraigned on Oct. 22 at the Larson Justice Center, according to jail records.
