Border Patrol agents seized more than $18,000 in cash and some marijuana found in an SUV on Interstate 10 near Desert Center, the federal agency announced today.
Agents did a vehicle stop on a Chevrolet Tahoe around 11 p.m. Saturday on I-10 about 40 miles east of Indio. A search turned up $18,000 in a paper sack in the center console, and a “small amount” of marijuana elsewhere in the vehicle, Border Patrol spokesman Salvador Alvarez said.
The SUV was driven by an unidentified 25-year-old United States citizen, according to Alvarez.
The Border Patrol’s policy is to withhold the names of suspects.
