Hector Jauregui-Campos, 24, of Orange, died at a hospital at 3:30 p.m. Sunday Sept. 9, said Los Angeles County coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Police arrested Christopher Ramirez, 20, of Mira Loma and Jose Duenas, 19, and Antonio Portales, 21, both of Long Beach. All three were booked for murder and were being held without bail, the Long Beach Police Department reported. Detectives planned to present the case to Los Angeles prosecutors today, police said.

According to police, the suspects allegedly were involved in a dispute with the victim on Friday night somewhere in Riverside County and assaulted him, placed him in a car and brought him to Long Beach, where he was beaten and shot.

It was unknown what the dispute was about.

The victim was found wounded in an alley in the 1000 block of St. Louis Avenue and was brought to a hospital in critical condition.

The investigation led to the arrests of the suspects, who originally were booked for attempted murder, police said.
