A 24-year-old man on probation was arrested in Norco today for allegedly calling 911 and making a false burglary report.
Deputies, a police dog and an air unit were sent to the 1100 block of Seventh Street around 1:05 p.m. on a call of a robbery in progress, said
Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Kenneth Violette.
The caller said he saw several males entering a residence through a side window before he lost sight of the home as he drove away, Violette said.
After questioning a resident identified as Joshua Smith, investigators came to suspect that he placed the false call, Violette said.
Smith was arrested and booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of misusing the 911 system, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation, Violette said.
