Idyllwild: Stranded motorists find corpse near homeless camp

A decomposing body was found on Tuesday Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m., near State Highway 243 and Jameson Drive in Idyllwild, law enforcement officials announced.

Two men found the body while they were waiting for a tow truck to arrive and help them with their vehicle.

The remains were clothed and located in a wooded area fifty yards from the road next to a transient camp, Sgt. W Clear said.

Investigators from the Hemet Station and the Coroner’s office were unable to determine the gender of the body at the scene.

No signs of foul play are suspected and investigators are examining items located in the encampment that may assist with positively identifying the remains.

Anyone with further investigation regarding this ongoing investigation is urged to contact Investigator Robertson at 951-791-3400.
