DUI checkpoint in Moreno Valley nets several arrests

A DUI checkpoint held in Moreno Valley on Friday Sept. 14 resulted in seven arrests, officials reported.

874 vehicles passed through the checkpoint between the hours of 8:30 p.m.

Of those drivers stopped seven were arrested for DUI, one person was arrested for felony drug possession, ten drivers were ticketed for driving without a license, 2 people were given citations for driving with a suspended license and 16 cars were towed, Sgt. Bengston stated in a press release.

Law enforcement officials stage checkpoints at various times throughout the year in an effort to crack down on drunk drivers and people driving with suspended or revoked licenses.

The Moreno Valley Police Department wishes to remind drivers that if they choose to drink alcoholic beverages, it is important to designate a sober driver before getting into a vehicle.
