Hemet man surrenders to police in case of fatal hit-and-run crash

A man who surrendered to Hemet police on suspicion of hit-and-run in a fatal crash was behind bars today, Hemet police said.

Keith Christensen of Hemet surrendered Friday and was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit and run in the death of 23-year-old Alcides Flores-Landaverde in the 300 block of East Florida Avenue about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Hemet police Cpl. Mike Mouat said.

Christensen was jailed at the Southwest Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bail, police said.

Witnesses told police the driver was in silver-colored Nissan Frontier, and investigators found the vehicle with front-end damage consistent with the accident.
