Authorities today identified a Valley Center man who died after running up Flat Top Mountain to take sunset pictures as a 21-year-old college student and church preschool teacher.
Collin Barnes told his parents, with whom he lived, he was going to run to the mesa atop the steep mountain Thursday evening, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
When he did not return, his family called the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies found Barnes unresponsive on the mountain in the 29000 block of Paseo Robles, the Medical Examiner’s Office reported.
Fire personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, officials with the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
How he died has yet to be determined.
