A suspect described only as a “male” who lived in a home overlooking two schools in Valencia was arrested Monday on suspicion of threatening to shoot at the children there.
The sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station was alerted by Bristol, Conn., police that a Valencia resident wrote on a blog that “they were watching kids and did not mind murdering them,” said sheriff’s Lt. Steven Low.
“The blogger mentioned that it would be like the Aurora, Colo., shooting,” Low said, referring to the July 20 shooting in a movie theater where 12 people were killed and 58 injured, the highest amount of casualties in an American mass shooting.
Sheriff’s detectives found that the blog was linked to a residence in the 23000 block of Edenton Place in Valencia, which overlooked Santa Clarita Elementary School and Arroyo Seco Junior High School.
A search warrant was served and several guns were discovered and a suspect was arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Station.
Detectives were in contact with Bristol police and Yale University police to see if there were other suspects.
The name of the suspect was not revealed, Low said.

Arroyo Seco is actually the school I attend. It’s pretty freaky to know that some lunatic threatened to shoot there. I didn’t actually hear about it until my friend told me. The teachers didn’t say a word, though the librarian did mention it to me. I don’t feel any ‘lasting horror’ or anything like that. However, I am worried that there may be an accomplice of some sort.
Facts are, I’m pretty paranoid about running laps on the field now.
