Paws and whiskers will be celebrated at the 7th annual “Woofs and Purrs” fundraising event from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7 at Oak Mountain Winery.
Cause for Paws is the non-profit organization behind the event and is run by Oak Mountain’s owner Valerie Andrews.
“Our dog Petie came down with diabetes when he was eight-years-old and with daily insulin and blood testing he did fine a few years until we had to put him down two years ago,” Andrews explained.
The cost of admission is a $35 donation with all proceeds going towards the treatment of diabetes in animals.
Andrews said Cause for Paws recently helped a “beautiful black cat named Inky,” whose 81-year-old owner could not afford blood testing or insulin to help treat the cat.
The event is a perfect fit for the pet-friendly winery where water bowls, dog cookies, a painted fire hydrant and doggie baggies are an ever present reminder that pets are warmly welcomed.
“We love our dogs here,” Andrews chirped.
In addition to an afternoon of great food, wine and live music, there will be a silent auction.
“This event helps make it possible for us to continue the work we are all so proud of, helping those who cannot speak for themselves,” Andrews added.
Tickets include a logo wine glass, glass of wine and a catered lunch.
