A diver drowned today while performing maintenance on a swimming pool at a ranch near Palmdale that is often used as a movie set, authorities said.
Paramedics and deputies were sent to the 5700 block of Soledad Canyon Road shortly after 9 a.m., said sheriff’s Deputy Dan McPherson of the Palmdale Station.
The ranch is often used as a movie set, McPherson said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was airlifted to a hospital, where he died. He had been wearing scuba equipment while working in a “deep” pool, where he regularly handled maintainance duties, McPherson said.
TMZ.com reported that the Johnny Depp movie “The Lone Ranger” is currently being filmed at the location.
