A Riverside man who allegedly pulled a woman out of her car and stabbed her multiple times, but was arrested, police said today.
Arthur Wayne McNeil III, 31, was booked Friday night for suspicion of attempted murder, infliction of corporal injury on a spouse and assault with a deadly weapon, according to jail records. McNeil, who remains in jail, is set to appear in court on Wednesday, the records cite.
Police received a call at 9:30 p.m. Friday about the alleged attack, at an apartment complex in the 2400 block of Iowa Avenue, a sergeant said.
Officers learned that the woman was backing out of a garage when McNeil allegedly approached her, pulled her out of the vehicle and began stabbing her a number of times, the sergeant reported.
Police later found McNeil in the evening at a Canyon Crest Drive location and arrested him.
The woman was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for her injuries and listed in stable condition, police said.
Police did not disclose a possible motive for the stabbing.
