A two-vehicle crash in Indio today left one person was hospitalized with what were described as moderate injuries.
The collision was reported about 7:30 a.m. at Avenue 48 and Heifitz Drive, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.
A vehicle merging into oncoming traffic on Avenue 48 from Heifitz collided with another vehicle, Indio Police Department spokesman Ben Guitron said.
Firefighters had to cut one driver out of the wreckage. That motorist, whose name was not released, was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries, Guitron said.
The other driver was unhurt.
Guitron said alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash.
