Two people were arrested Wednesday after police found the pair with a purse “overstuffed” with items from the Dollar Tree, it was reported today.
Hacienda Heights resident Colleen Marie Sykes, 48, and Charles Lawson, 45, of Grand Terrace were detained by deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Special Enforcement Team at about 9 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the corner of Limonite Ave. and Camino Real in Jurupa Valley, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report.
“While speaking with the adult female and adult male, deputies saw that the female’s purse was visibly overstuffed with numerous perishable items,” the report said.
After investigating further, it was learned the good had been stolen from the Dollar Tree Store, located in the 7700 block of Limonite Ave., according to officials.
All of the items were returned.
Sykes was arrested for burglary and theft and her companion, Lawson, was taken into custody for an outstanding felony warrant.
Both were booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center.
