They carried signs, flowers and balloons — chatting quietly and embracing one another — as part of the scheduled prayer vigil that encouraged loved ones to remember their sister and urged the person responsible for her death to come forward.

McGlover, 68, was making her rounds on her normal morning walk when she was struck and ended up in a ditch that runs alongside Brookridge Drive near Washington Street on Sept. 21.

Police initially determined the incident to have been a hit-and-run crash.

But McGlover’s family feels differently.

Citing a conversation that McGlover was having with her daughter on the phone at the time of the collision, family, friends and neighbors assert that there was no way a car could have plowed into the woman as she walked.

“Her daughter said she heard her mom say, ‘Excuse me’ as if someone was talking to her and then she started screaming her daughter’s name and the phone went dead,” one neighbor said.

The concerns have prompted an investigation that has Riverside County Sheriff’s investigators seeking leads and urging the public to come forward with information.

At least one neighbor at Sunday’s prayer vigil said that she was visited Sunday by investigators with questions.

Dr. Andrea King of Imani Praise Fellowship addressed the crowd and called for those gathered to “honor (McGlover’s) memory.”

“We’re calling for anybody who knows something (about the crash), if you know something — come forward. We’re also calling to the perpetrator — turn yourself in,” King said.

McGlover was remembered as much more than a friendly face.

Pastor Anthony Drummond said: “She was beautiful as fireworks moving across the night sky and (she) moved like a comet because she knew she had places to be. She was a force of nature. Where she touched down, she made a difference, she made an impact.

The sheriff’s department is asking anyone that may have additional information or may have witnessed something regarding this active investigation to call Investigator Gary Bowen at 951-955-2777.
