Update: The elderly woman who was struck by a van has died from her injuries, according to a coroner’s report. She has been identified as 84-year-old Luna Alfaro of Moreno Valley.

A woman pushing a shopping cart across the street was struck by a van on Monday Oct. 1 just before 8 p.m., on Hemlock Street in Moreno Valley, it was reported.

Responding officers learned that a 42-year-old man was driving a van westbound on Hemlock towards Obispo Drive when he struck the elderly victim.
The woman suffered major injuries and was transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the van was uninjured, Sgt. James Bengston said in a sheriff’s report.
Hemlock Street between Obispo Drive and Indian Street was closed for several hours while investigators combed the scene.
