An elderly man killed his wife in a freak driving accident in their garage, officials reported today.
Officers responded to the home located in the 28600 block of Tropicana Drive in Menifee just after 4 p.m., on Tuesday Oct. 2.
Deputies learned the 86-year-old man was having a hard time positioning his truck in the garage. As he was re-parking he bumped into a few items.
As a result his 82-year-old wife came out to help guide him into position, Sgt. Sergio Rodriguez said in sheriff’s report.
The man accidentally hit the accelerator and struck his wife, pinning her against the wall.
She suffered serious injuries and was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center where she died a short time later, Sgt. Rodriguez said.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact Officer Jared Howe at 951-210-1000.
