A Riverside County sheriff’s deputy was hurt today during a confrontation with a suspect, who was also injured.
Circumstances of the 1:10 p.m. encounter outside a Moreno Valley apartment complex at 13931 Elsworth St., just north of Alessandro Boulevard, were not immediately clear.
According to reports from the scene, a deputy called for assistance, saying he had an injured leg and was unable to follow a suspect running away from him.
Multiple sheriff’s units raced to the scene, and the unidentified suspect was apprehended without incident near the apartment complex.
He and the deputy were transported in separate ambulances to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment of unspecified injuries.
