What’s on for the Weekend: Corn maze, Count Basie and Julian apples

Hear that? It’s the weekend knocking! Hopefully with some cooler weather, there are a lot of things you can plan on. Here’s what’s in store:

Big Horse Feed and Corn Maze

You know it is officially autumn when Temecula’s Big Horse Feed & Mercantile opens its popular corn maze and fall fun to thousands of residents and fans throughout the region. The festivities officially kick off Oct. 6 and run through Halloween.

Pechanga Resort & Casino

Two big events are planned this weekend: a performance by Jake Shimabukuro at 8 p.m. on Oct. 5 and the Food Truck Festival at 11 a.m. on Oct. 6 at Pechanga Resort & Casino.

Featuring a dramatic, architecturally striking set design, the dance performance promises to be a visual treat for theater-goers. Two shows are planned at 8 p.m. on Oct. 5-6 at Old Town Temecula Community Theater.

What better way to get pumped up for Halloween? All the creepiest, craziest pranks will be waiting for you at the 6th Annual “Field of Screams: The Haunted Stadium” at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore. Doors open to the public now through Halloween.

Humphreys in San Diego and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio

Popular blues/rock guitarist and singer George Thorogood will bring his raucous Delaware Destroyers to So Cal for two concerts: 8 p.m. on Oct. 4 at Humphreys in San Diego and on Oct. 5 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio.

Tribute to Count Basie, with Yve Evans and the All Star Big Band

For fans of this swinging era of music, the All Star Big Band will perform some favorites, including “Basie Straight Ahead,” “Shiny Stockings,” “Lil’ Darlin’,” “Jumpin’ at the Woodside” and “All Of Me.” The show is planned for 2 p.m. on Oct. 7 at Old Town Temecula Community Theater.

Music is always happening at The Merc in Old Town Temecula. Friday’s feature good old fashioned rock ‘n roll and Saturday’s ImproVacations at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. Then, it’s Classics at The Merc at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $11.
