The choice of where to go see live music in the Temecula area is almost as important as who’s up on stage, doing their thing. Maybe more so.
With that in mind, here are eight great Southwest Riverside venues to check out the local music scene:
41607 Enterprise Circle N., Temecula
Regional and touring ska, punk, metal, soul, and rock bands are on the weekly menu at this established Temecula indie music venue. The Vault Concerts also promotes “Local Music Saturdays” at Bratts and tribute band shows at the Tilted Kilt. Shows at The Vault are typically for all ages.
33410 Rancho California Rd., Temecula
Overlooking Temecula’s wine country, Miramonte’s spacious, tiered outdoor patio invites out-of-town wine tasters and locals to stop by Friday and Saturday nights to enjoy some of the best bands Temecula has to offer. The combo of their sangria, stunning views, and artists such as Missy Andersen is tough to beat.
28636 Old Town Front Street, Temecula
Formerly Stellar Cellar, this cozy Old Town haunt has long been a favorite of local musicians. Great beer, wine, and cocktail options complement the Union’s “I’m so close I can touch the band” vibe. Bring your out of town guests — they’ll be impressed.
40365 Murrieta Hot Springs Rd., C-14, Murrieta
From acoustic duos (Painted Daizies) to hard rock (Master Splinter & The Shredders), J. Carter’s books a wide variety of crowd-pleasing bands every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Great food too — try their Baja Fish Tacos or Blues Burger.
41971 Main St., Temecula
One of Old Town’s most popular restaurant/bars is home to talented cover bands and singer-songwriters each weekend. Hanging out in their back patio on a warm night, sipping one of their many craft beers on tap, and taking in the local music scene is mandatory. Do it this weekend.
33475 La Serena Way, Temecula
One of the newest wineries on the scene, Europa Village showcases local artists each Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. Both their covered veranda and their indoor “cave” offers great acoustics and a quaint Old World European-style atmosphere.
26900 Newport Rd., Menifee
This sports pub rocks each Friday night, bringing the finest in energetic rock bands to Menifee, Murrieta and Lake Elsinore. There is plenty of room for dancing amongst the many pool tables and big screen TVs, so don’t mind the sports geeks at the bar watching ESPN highlights. Bring your dancing shoes.
28544 Front St., Temecula
Once the Wine Collective, newly-opened Crush & Brew now offers local craft-style beer to go hand-in-hand representing local wineries, just as they previously did. Beyond that, they’ve made it a point to book only regional indie artists every Friday night as well as the last Saturday of each month. Also, their monthly “In The Round” songwriter showcase just may blossom into something big. Stay tuned.
