Original: Murrieta police officers are searching for a man who fled the scene of a crash, it was reported today.
According to SWRNN reporter Joe Fanaselle, the collision involving a white pickup truck and a red Mercedes occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at Washington Ave. and Grizzly Ridge in Murrieta.
The driver of the white pickup fled the scene, heading northbound into Wildomar, but not before possibly leaving his girlfriend at the scene of the accident, according to radio transmissions.
Police pursued the suspect into Wildomar where the man crashed the truck and fled on foot into a brush area south of Clinton Keith Road.
A makeshift perimeter has been set up along the border of Murrieta and Wildomar.
Reports at the scene suggest that the girlfriend may have provided information to responding officers that are helping them to identify the driver.
