Marijuana grow discovered at Eastvale home following fire

Firefighters knocking down a blaze at an unoccupied Eastvale home today stumbled upon an apparent indoor marijuana growing operation.

The discovery was made after Riverside County fire crews contained a fire in a two-story residence in the 6300 block of Bodega Court, according to sheriff’s officials.

“After they put out the fire, they found some marijuana plants and contacted us,” sheriff’s Deputy Steven Favero told City News Service.

He didn’t immediately know how many plants were seized.

The non-injury blaze was reported around 6:25 a.m. and was declared under control by 9:24 a.m., according to fire department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

She could not confirm the extent of the damage to the property. No surrounding homes were impacted by the fire.

Favero said an investigation was under way.
