Two juveniles were taken into custody Thursday night in Murrieta after allegedly attempting to rob a local liquor store, it was reported.

According to Murrieta Police Lt. Tony Conrad, the minors were confronted when they attempted to steal alcohol at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday evening at Samis Liquor Store, located at 39840 Los Alamos Road in Murrieta.

“They got into a fight with the owner who tried to stop them,” Conrad said.

Conrad did not identify the two juveniles.

Reports from the scene suggested that at least one of the minors may have attempted to jump over a wall in the ensuing struggle and was injured.

According to Conrad, both minors were “intoxicated” and examined at a local hospital before they were arrested and subsequently booked into Juvenile Hall.

Conrad noted that because the pair allegedly attempted to flee with the liquor by force, the incident was categorized as a robbery.
