Quee “Q.C.” Chadwick, 46, was identified as the alleged victim, and police were retracing the steps of her husband, Peter Chadwick, Newport Beach
police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe said.

A neighbor of the two called Newport Beach police about 7 p.m., Wednesday Oct. 10, requesting a check on the welfare of the Chadwicks when their children were not picked up from school earlier that day, Lowe said.

Officers saw signs of a struggle and “possible foul play” in the residence and investigators began searching for the Chadwicks, Lowe said.

About 5:30 a.m., Thursday, Peter Chadwick called San Diego police from the 905 Freeway seeking assistance, Lowe said. Police will not say why he
needed help, Lowe added.

Newport Beach police, however, took Peter Chadwick into custody on suspicion of murder, Lowe said.

Investigators will not release any specifics on why Chadwick was under suspicion, Lowe said.

“We do believe he’s involved in her disappearance and homicide,” Lowe said.

Chadwick was being held on $1.5 million bail in the Newport Beach jail, Lowe said.

Investigators were going over Peter Chadwick’s movements in the 12 hours before he contacted San Diego police, Lowe said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Newport Beach police at 800-550-NBPD or Detective Bryan Moore at 949-644-3764.
