One person was killed and another injured after a traffic collision that occurred at approximately 1:26 a.m. on Oct. 12 on Nuevo and Menifee roads in Perris, law enforcement officials said.
According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department report, the single vehicle rollover crash claimed the life of a 22-year-old Chula Vista resident. The passenger, a 19-year-old Oceanside resident, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center.
Neither of the motorists were identified in the report.
“Upon arrival, officers found that a vehicle was traveling westbound on Nuevo Road drove off the roadway into a drainage canal,” the report said.
According to officials, the roadway was closed for several hours with assistance by Perris Police Department volunteers to allow investigators to examine the crash site.
The Perris Police Department Traffic Reconstruction Team also responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
