Plane crash lands in Corona, pilot OK

An investigation is underway into why a single-engine airplane lost power today while landing at Corona Municipal Airport, a police lieutenant said.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be launching its probe into the Piper Tomahawk airplane that clipped some trees at the southeast area of the runway before crash landing into a dirt field, Corona Police Lt. Neil Reynolds said.

The pilot, Alan Sinman, 49, of Corona, was the sole occupant of the airplane that Reynolds said had moderate damage. Sinman was taken to Kaiser Hospital for a complaint of pain, Reynolds said.

The mishap was reported at 12:11 p.m., the lieutenant said.
