The stabbing attack in the 5000 block of Newport Avenue, near Bacon Street, was reported to police at 1:06 a.m., Delimitros said.

The suspect was causing a disturbance on the sidewalk in front of a bar, after being ejected from a neighboring bar, he said. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the bouncer trying to disperse a crowd gathered in front of the bar.

The suspect was taken into custody one block north of the stabbing scene, Delimitros said. His name was not released.
