It took crews about 35 minutes today to snuff out a brush fire that blackened roughly an acre on a brushy hillside next to Qualcomm Stadium.
The blaze at the northwest corner of Friars Road and Mission Village Drive in Mission Valley was reported just after 10 a.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Firefighters doused the flames from the ground and aboard a water-dropping helicopter. They declared the burn area contained about 10:40 a.m., a dispatcher said.
No structural damage was reported.
