Cyndi Lauper will headline the AIDS Assistance Program’s 20th annual fundraising gala in May, the organization announced this week.
“Evening Under the Stars” is scheduled for May 11 at the O’Donnell Golf Club in Palm Springs.
“Cyndi has so much talent, and her music is beloved by millions of fans around the world,” said Mark Anton, executive director of the AIDS Assistance Program. “The fact that she is able to be with us at our 20th annual gala is going to make the evening that much more special.”
Lauper, whose hits include “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” “Time After Time” and “True Colors,” started the True Colors Fund in 2008 to encourage people to work for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality and to raise awareness about and end gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth homelessness.
The AIDS Assistance Program benefits more than 500 desert-area residents with HIV/AIDS.
Tickets for the gala are $395 or $500 per person. For more information, call 760-325-8481 or go to www.aidsassistance.org.
