A 22-year-old transient was charged today with breaking into the West Hollywood home of the daughter of singers Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain.
Marc James Franco was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse on one felony count of first-degree burglary with a person present.
Prosecutors were expected to ask a judge to set his bail at $500,000.
One of Frances Cobain’s relatives — who had gone to the home to care for the young woman’s dog while she was out of town — discovered the man doing
laundry inside the home on Saturday, authorities said.
Franco allegedly claimed that he was a friend of Frances Cobain, but the relative called police. Franco was arrested after Los Angeles police contacted Cobain, who said she did not know him, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
If convicted, he faces up to six years in state prison.
