Woman hit and killed on PCH in Long Beach

A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed this morning on Pacific Coast Highway near the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach, authorities said.

The woman died at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 5:40 a.m. on westbound PCH, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Lisa Massacani.

Her name was withheld, pending family notification.

The westbound lanes of PCH were closed at San Francisco Avenue, as was the onramp to the northbound 710 Freeway, Massacani said.
