What’s on for the Weekend: Racers, ‘Producers’ and country star Josh Turner

Fall is in full swing with corn mazes, pumpkin patches and plenty of “spooktacular” events. But, there are some other cool things happening around town this weekend. Check it out:

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Thousands of breast cancer research supporters will be out in force to race for a great cause. The event kicks off at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21 at Promenade Temecula.

Josh Turner at Pechanga Resort & Casino

45000 Pechanga Parkway, Temecula

Turner and his band have been white hot on their current tour and will hit the stage locally at 8 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Pechanga Resort & Casino.

The Producers

Presented by the Fine Arts Network Theatre Co., this Mel Brooks’ smart comedy will have theater-goers rolling in the aisles. This one presents some adult themes, so leave the little ones at home.  Shows are planned through Oct. 21 at Old Town Temecula Community Theater.

“Thriller!”

On the heels of the smashing success of last month’s “Disney:  A Tale As Old As Time” performance, the Inland Valley Symphony has a “spooktacular” concert set for the Halloween season. Guests are invited to an evening of bone-chilling Hollywood film-inspired instrumentals in “Thriller!” at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 at the Gershwin Performing Arts Center.

Julian Apple Harvest

The forecast calls for temperatures to start cooling. So, why not take a quick drive east of Temecula to Julian where the popular apple harvest is currently underway through Oct. 21. Get your fill of apples and perhaps stop for a slice of warm pie.

Vampires at Vail Lake

Get ready for the ghoulish, truly spooky Vampire Vail Halloween Festival at Vail Lake Resort. Guests are invited to take part in a Haunted Hay Ride, a Jurassic Forest that features lifelike sculptures of the prehistoric creatures, courtesy of local artist Ricardo Breceda and more. The weekend event runs from 4 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 19-20, and 26-27.

Field of Screams: The Haunted Stadium

What better way to get pumped up for Halloween? All the creepiest, craziest pranks will be waiting for you at the 6th Annual “Field of Screams: The Haunted Stadium” at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore. Doors open to the public now through Halloween.

Music at the Merc

Music is always happening at The Merc in Old Town Temecula. Friday’s feature good old fashioned rock ‘n roll and Saturday’s ImproVacations at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. Then, it’s Classics at The Merc at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $11.
