Sheriff’s detectives asked Santa Clarita residents today to be on the lookout for a stranger who struck up suspicious conversations with two Newhall-area girls, 10 and 14 years old.
On Monday Oct. 15, shortly after 3 p.m., the suspect told one girl at Old Orchard Park that he had been sent to pick her up, but she did not believe him and ran toward the 25000 block of Lyons Avenue, where she found her mother and told her what happened, according to the sheriff’s department.
On Oct. 5 about 3 p.m., a man fitting the same description approached a girl near Old Orchard and Wiley Canyon roads and asked her if she wanted to go
get some ice cream. The girl declined, later telling deputies that the man followed her for a while — until she ran and hid from him.
Anyone with more information about the suspect — described only as a black man in his 20s — was asked to call deputies at 877-710-5273, or L.A.
Crimestoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
