An unconscious scuba diver was pulled from the ocean today during a group outing near La Jolla Shores, lifeguard officials said.
Lifeguards were alerted to the diver, believed to be in his mid- to late-40′s, who was reportedly having difficulty about 8:30 a.m., according to city lifeguard Lt. John Everhart.
The diver was in “very serious medical condition,” when lifeguards and his fellow divers brought him to shore where lifeguards began CPR, Everhart said.
The diver had some type of medical issue, Everhart said, adding he was unsure if it was related to the dive or it was an unrelated medical issue.
The diver was then taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, Everhart said
