The man, whose name was withheld, was hospitalized in critical condition and expected to live, according to police, who called him a “documented gang member.”

Anaheim police Deputy Chief Raul Quezada said the shooting in the 200 block of Narda Street occurred about 1:25 a.m.

Police tried to stop the man at Vermont Avenue and Philadelphia Street, but he rode away, Quezada said.
