Indio: Man suffers burns in homeless shelter

A man suffered second degree burns to his legs at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, a county fire spokeswoman said today.

The victim, 50, was flown out to a hospital for injuries after Riverside County firefighters raced to the homeless shelter Saturday at 47470 Van Buren St. in Indio, said Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.

A program director at the shelter said she was unaware of what occurred.

Firefighters were sent there at 4:50 p.m.
