A Jurupa Valley woman is behind bars after allegedly trying to sell tires and wheels from a car that had been stolen in Jurupa Valley on Saturday Oct. 13, officials reported.
A few days after the victim’s 1991 Honda Accord was stolen he noticed the wheels and tires being sold online and contacted law enforcement.
Members from the Jurupa Valley’s Special Enforcement Team sprung into action and contacted the seller posing as interested buyers, Sgt. Justin Rowan stated in a sheriff’s press release.
The seller agreed to sell the tires to the undercover officers and a date and time was set for the transaction.
On October Saturday Oct. 20, 2012, at 5:00 p.m., the undercover deputies arrived to meet the suspect in the 2400 block of Market Street in Riverside. The female suspect had the stolen property and was immediately arrested, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deputies also found crystal meth and drug paraphernalia in 35-year-old Alida Luz Larranaga’s possession and determined she was under the influence of drugs.
Larranaga was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance, Sgt. Rowan added.
Anyone with additional details is urged to contact Deputy I. Perez at the Jurupa Valley Station at 951-955-2600.
