A motorist traveling northbound on Grand Ave. near Lakeland Village this morning became distracted when her puppy was playing under either the gas or break pedal and hit a pedestrian on the right shoulder of the road, it was reported.
The incident occurred just after 8 a.m.
“Dogs should be restrained (in the vehicle) so they can’t be interfering with the driver,” said California Highway Patrol officer White.
It is believed the pedestrian, who was transported to a local hospital, suffered minor injuries.
Drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
This is a developing story.
