A utility trailer being towed by an SUV broke loose and careened into an electrical box, cutting power to the Vons shopping center on Murrieta Hot Springs and Winchester Roads, CHP officials reported today.
The crash occured at 7:50 a.m. as many people were headed to work and dropping kids off at school.
“The Suburban was traveling on Sky Canyon Drive when the trailer started whipping out of control,” CHP officer Richard Thurston said.
He added the trailer rammed into an above ground electrical box causing a small fire to ignite.
So Cal Edison arrived and disconnected power to the center.
“The power will probably be out for about 8 hours,” Officer Thurston said.
No injuries were reported.
