What’s on for the Weekend: Sock Hops, Vampires and a Museum Gone Mad

Hear that? It’s the weekend knocking! As the weather has gotten cooler, there are a lot of things you can plan on. Here’s what’s in store:

Big Horse Feed and Corn Maze

You know it is officially fall when Temecula’s Big Horse Feed & Mercantile opens its popular corn maze and fall fun to thousands of residents and fans throughout the region. The festivities run through Halloween.

‘Sock Hops & Soda Shoppes’

42051 Main St., Temecula

Fans of the 50s and 60s sounds — an era of music that never gets old — will not want to miss “Sock Hops & Soda Shoppes” planned for 3 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Old Town Temecula Community Theater. Presented by West Coast Performing Arts and Cruisin’ Oldies Concerts, the performance will star classic girl group The Wonderelles.

The Woman in Black

562 W. 4th St., San Bernardino

Don’t miss one of the most “exciting, spooky, gripping and successful theatre events ever staged” based on Susan Hill’s best-selling novel. Performances are planned for Oct. 26-28 at California Theatre of the Performing Arts.

Halloween Family Carnival

Ronald Reagan Sports Park Hockey

Wear a costume and compete for top honors at the annual Halloween Family Carnival. There will be games, prizes, fun jumps, face painting and more. Cost is $5 for a wristband to take advantage of all the fun. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26.

Temecula Museum Gone Mad

Get into the Halloween spirit at Temecula’s “Museum of Un-Natural History” events planned for 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Temecula Valley Museum. Call 951-694-6450 for more information and reservations.

Vampires at Vail Lake

38000 Highway 79 South, Temecula

Get ready for the ghoulish, truly spooky Vampire Vail Halloween Festival at Vail Lake Resort. Guests are invited to take part in a Haunted Hay Ride, a Jurassic Forest that features lifelike sculptures of the prehistoric creatures, courtesy of local artist Ricardo Breceda and more. The weekend event runs from 4 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 26-27.

Field of Screams: The Haunted Stadium

500 Diamond Drive, Lake Elsinore

What better way to get pumped up for Halloween? All the creepiest, craziest pranks will be waiting for you at the 6th Annual “Field of Screams: The Haunted Stadium” at The Diamond in Lake Elsinore. Doors open to the public now through Halloween.

Music is always happening at The Merc in Old Town Temecula. Friday’s feature good old fashioned rock ‘n roll and Saturday’s ImproVacations at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15. Then, it’s Classics at The Merc at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $11.
