A soldier from Murrieta was identified today as one of two soldiers killed in Afghanistan this week, the Department of Defense reported today.
Army Sgt. Clinton K. Ruiz, 22, died of wounds suffered Thursday when his unit was attacked by gunfire in Khas Uruzgan, Oruzgan Province, the Pentagon said.
Ruiz was assigned to the 9th Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne) and the 8th Military Information Support Group (airborne) in Fort Bragg, NC.
Another soldier, identified as Staff Sgt. Kashif Memon, 31, of Houston, Texas, also died of his injuries Thursday.
