California Department of Forestry members stumble upon dead body in Cabazon

Members of the California Department of Forestry California conducting a training exercise came upon a badly decomposed body on Monday Oct. 29 at 3 p.m., near Jack Rabbit Trail and Hwy 60, officials reported.

The body, which appears to be a male, was situated on the side of the road.

Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit arrived and assumed the investigation, Sgt. John Buompensiero stated in a sheriff’s report.

“The cause of death is not known at this time,” Sgt. Buompensiero added.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday Oct. 30.
