Area nonprofit organizations seeking teen volunteers are encouraged to attend.
In keeping with the Halloween holiday, the theme for the inaugural event is, “It’s No Trick, Your Service Is a Treat to Those in Need.”
Representatives from organizations such as the Assistance League of Temecula Valley’s Assisteens Auxiliary, the Temecula Rose Society, Reality Rally (featuring Temecula’s “Survivor” star Gillian Larson), Habitat for Humanity and Project T.O.U.C.H. will be available for teens to chat with during the two-hour event.
“The expo is designed to assist teens in finding community service organizations of interest to them. It is also a showcase for those area organizations that welcome teens as volunteers,” said Chris Lindberg, SAE PTSA president, in a released statement.
“Our school district requires 40 hours of community service for graduation. The SAE PTSA Board wanted to hold an event that would bring diverse groups to the Sparkman campus and, at the same time, would be convenient for students looking for an organization to support. Students at Chaparral, Temecula Valley, and Great Oak High Schools are welcome to come by on their way home from school and check it out,” she added.
Sparkman Alternative Education is located at 3225 Pio Pico Rd., in Temecula.
