A pedestrian struck and killed while crossing a Corona street was identified today as a 58-year-old resident of the city.
David Cortez died around 7:20 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by a sedan near the intersection of Sixth and Merrill streets.
According to Corona police, Cortez was walking southbound across Sixth Street where there is no marked pedestrian crossing a car driven by 23-year-old Israel Andrade of Corona, headed east on Sixth, plowed into him.
Cortez was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics a few minutes later.
Andrade was uninjured and not cited.
However, police said the investigation is continuing.
