Thermal: Police find alleged purse snatcher hiding in house

A man who assaulted a woman and snatched her purse on Oct. 3 was spotted by law enforcement officials on Monday Oct. 29 at 10:30 a.m. near Center and Market Streets in Thermal, officials reported today.

Deputies set up a perimeter after the suspect took off running into a nearby yard.

A lock-down was ordered for a nearby school while officials searched for the suspect.

After a lengthy search, officers found the man hiding in a residence in the 87000 block of Center Street, Sgt. Jeronimo Contreras stated in a sheriff’s report.

Thermal resident Jesse Jordan Diaz, 21, was arrested and booked on charges of robbery.
