A North Shore man suspected in a Mecca carjacking last month was arrested at the courthouse in Indio, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
Eddie Centeno, 19, was arrested at the Larson Justice Center at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday by members of the Southern Coachella Valley Communities Services District Team, who had been investigating an Oct. 23 carjacking in the 91000 block of 2nd Street in Mecca, sheriff’s Sgt. Jeronimo Contreras said.
It was unclear how he was tracked down at the courthouse, and court records didn’t show any Wednesday court dates or current cases for Centeno.
However, he was arrested on suspicion of committing a felony while out on bail, according to jail records.
Contreras said a knife was used in the carjacking, but no one was hurt. Centeno was being held at the county jail in Indio in lieu of $250,000 bail, and was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at the Larson Justice Center, according to jail records.
