Who needs to brave the loud, boozy concert venues to hear a great band? UltraStar Cinemas recently announced it will present the following November concerts on the big screen: “Rolling Stones: Charlie is My Darling (Ireland 1965),” “The Doors Live at the Bowl ’68” and “Coldplay Live 2012.”
All concert events will be broadcast in Pure Digital Cinema, utilizing the top technology to bring the audience the clearest, crispest picture and sound quality achievable, according to a released statement.
“The Rolling Stones: Charlie is My Darling (Ireland 1965)”
7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5-6
In 1965 Andrew Loog Oldham, the Rolling Stones svengali, asked filmmaker Peter Whitehead (“The Fall,” “Tonite Let’s All Make Love in London”) to accompany them on a quick tour of Ireland. This new version of this behind-the scenes diary of the early Stones has never been seen. Included are electrifying performances of “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “The Last Time” and “Time is on My Side.”
“The Doors Live at the Bowl ’68″
7:30 p.m. on Nov. 7-8
This concert is widely considered as the band’s best performance ever captured on film. Now for the first time fans can watch the complete version in digitally re–mastered glory as the entire concert has been carefully restored from the original camera negatives to include the lost performances of “Hello I Love You,” “Texas Radio and the Big Beat” and “Spanish Caravan.” The film opens with a special feature of interviews with the band talking about what it meant to perform at the Hollywood Bowl and the enduring significance of this concert.
“Coldplay Live 2012″
7:30 p.m. on Nov. 13
This is the band’s first concert film/live album for nine years. It documents their acclaimed Mylo Xyloto world tour, which has been seen by more than three million people since it began in June 2011. Directed by Paul Dugdale, previously responsible for Adele’s Live at the Royal Albert Hall and The Prodigy’s World’s on Fire concert films, Live 2012 includes footage from Coldplay’s shows at Paris’s Stade de France, Montreal’s Bell Centre and the band’s triumphant Pyramid Stage headline performance at Glastonbury 2011.
