Authorities today identified a man who was fatally shot in Indio.
The shooting was reported about 2:50 a.m. Thursday at a residence in the 82500 block of Kenner Avenue.
The wounded man was taken by private vehicle to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, where he died, Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron said.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau identified the man as Julio Ruelas, 20, of Indio.
Guitron said no one else was hurt, and it was unknown what sparked the shooting.
People who were at the residence at the time and people who took the victim to the hospital were detained for questioning, he said.
